News & insights / Buying guide
Purchase price is only the starting point. Compare condition, tooling, running costs and support before choosing your next machine.

A lower purchase price can make used equipment attractive. Include refurbishment, compatible molds, transport, installation and training in the comparison. Check parts availability and technical support before committing to an older model.
Request its age, operating hours and maintenance history. Inspect the screw and barrel, die head, hydraulics, heaters and controls. A trial with a representative container helps reveal inconsistent weight, wall distribution or cycle performance. Confirm that the mold envelope, head and clamping arrangement fit your product.
Used equipment may suit a short project or a team equipped to rebuild it. New equipment allows the configuration and tooling to be specified together. Compare measured energy use under agreed trial conditions and establish who will commission and support the line.
