In short

5 Gallon Water Bottle: what to know

Reusable 3- to 5-gallon water bottles are usually made from PC or similar transparent resins on a dedicated accumulator-head machine. Tongda’s TDB-25APC is built for this product, with material drying, plasticizing and the bottle mold planned together.

The TDB-25APC range is intended for 3–5 gallon water bottles. Specify the exact resin grade, bottle geometry, neck and handle before choosing the screw, die head and process settings.

Typical products

  • 5-gallon (18.9 L) water bottles
  • 3-gallon water bottles
  • Handled and non-handled water jugs

Materials

  • PC
  • Tritan
  • PE (with a suitable configuration)

Production process

How the production line works

  1. Step 01

    Dry the resin

PC is hygroscopic, so it is dried to the supplier’s specification before processing.

  2. Step 02

    Plasticize

The screw and heating zones melt the resin without degrading its clarity.

  3. Step 03

    Accumulate and extrude

The accumulator head pushes out a heavy parison quickly for an even wall.

  4. Step 04

    Blow and cool

The bottle is blown in the mold and cooled until stable.

  5. Step 05

    Trim the neck and base

Flash is removed and the neck finish is checked for cap fit.

  6. Step 06

    Inspect

Weight, clarity, wall thickness and leak tightness are checked before packing.

Selection guide

Choosing a machine

Resin grade

PC, Tritan and PE need different screws, temperatures and drying.

Bottle design

Volume, neck, handle and base geometry define the mold and the parison.

Drying and auxiliaries

Dryers, loaders and chillers are part of a stable PC line.

Quality checks

Agree clarity, weight tolerance and leak testing before the machine is configured.

Questions from buyers

FAQ

Didn't find your answer?

Ask our engineers
Which Tongda machine makes 5-gallon PC bottles?

The TDB-25APC is the dedicated model for 3–5 gallon water bottles, with PC and Tritan configurations available.

Can the same machine run PE water bottles?

PE bottles need a different screw and process settings. Share the resin and bottle design so the configuration can be confirmed.

Why does PC need drying?

PC absorbs moisture, which causes defects in the finished bottle. Drying to the resin supplier’s specification is part of the line.
