A closer look at accumulator heads, clamping arrangements and wall thickness control for large hollow products.

Large hollow products require the material delivery and head arrangement to match the part. In an accumulator-head configuration, molten material is collected before the parison is discharged. Flow-path design, material residence, cleaning and color changes are practical considerations when comparing systems.
The clamping mechanism must accommodate the mold and support repeatable movement. Clamping layouts include tie-barless arrangements and synchronized hydraulic drives. Review access for mold changes, maintenance and automated part removal against the proposed layout.
Axial control changes wall distribution along the parison; radial control addresses its circumference. These systems can work together, but their suitability depends on the product geometry and tooling. Compare the proposed configuration using your drawing, material, target weight and finished-part requirements.
